Pain Canada partners with ManagingLife to study pain management before and after surgery

11.19.2024

We’re excited to announce Pain Canada has partnered with ManagingLife to launch the Preoperative Education Initiative: A Study on Pain Management Before and After Surgery. This innovative research will explore the impact of our Managing Pain Before and After Surgery course, designed to help people undergoing surgery and their families manage pain and reduce complications.

Research shows that educating patients about pain before and after surgery can help manage expectations, use prescribed medications safely, and improve well-being. Through our partnership, we aim to understand how our course affects pain medication use, anxiety, confidence, pain levels, and daily life. After consenting and registering on the Manage My Pain app, participants will be able to easily track pain levels, medication use, and activities, in addition to completing the Managing Pain Before and After course.

Founded in 2012, ManagingLife is the developer of Manage My Pain, a digital solution for chronic pain that provides a platform for pain self-management education. The app allows people with pain to monitor their well-being and generates reports to help individuals monitor what makes pain worse or better. Manage My Pain is available for free, with additional features available to those with a subscription. Participants in Pain Canada’s pre-operative education study will not only play a role in furthering pain research but will also be automatically upgraded to the full subscription of the app for life.
