Pain Canada and our partner organizations meet and work across the traditional territory of many Indigenous peoples: First Nations, Inuit, and Métis. We acknowledge that our office, located in Vancouver, is on the ancestral, traditional and unceded territory of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Tsleil-waututh Nations. Pain Canada respects and affirms the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action and supports the acceleration of their implementation. We call for the prioritization of all eight of the Indigenous-specific recommendations in Health Canada’s Action Plan for Pain in Canada so that the pain of Indigenous peoples can be recognized, respected, and effectively addressed.
